Brooklyn Learning Lab values the privacy of all users to Brooklyn Learning Lab’s website at www.brooklynlearninglab.com. This privacy policy applies to the information collected by Brooklyn Learning Lab through its website.

This privacy policy explains the following:

  1. What personally identifiable information is collected from all users and parent/guardian who’s child is registered in our online tutoring programs? How this information is used and with whom it may be shared?
  2. What choices are available to all users and parent/guardian regarding the use of their data and that of their child/children?
  3. The security procedures in place to protect the misuse of your information.
  4. How all users and parent/guardian can correct any incorrect information?

INFORMATION COLLECTION, USE, AND SHARING

Brooklyn Learning Lab is the owner of the information we collect on this site.

1. ALL USERS

When you visit Brooklyn Learning Lab’s website, we start collecting information related to your activity on our website. This includes your Internet Protocol (IP) address, web browser type, page visits on Brooklyn Learning Lab’s website and the dates and times of those visits.

Additionally, if you decide to subscribe to our Newsletter, comment on our blog posts or otherwise contact us or participate in any activities on Brooklyn Learning Lab’s website, you may provide us with Contact information.

When you visit our website, we may send one or more COOKIES- small text files that a site or its service provider transfers to your computer. 2. PARENT/GUARDIAN OF CHILDREN

Brooklyn Learning Lab website collects information from parent/guardian about their child/children that parent/guardian FREELY give us via registration forms for online programs and contests, surveys, or other direct contact from parents. For example, when parent/guardian fill out our online registration form to enroll their child/children in any of our programs, they may provide us with what is generally called “personally identifiable” information on themselves and their child/children like: child’s name and grade, parent/guardian’s name, email address, phone number and zip code.

We will not sell or rent this information. Brooklyn Learning Lab will use this information to help us serve your child/children better. Be advised we use third party companies to provide or perform certain aspects of our programs on our behalf. For example, our registration forms are created using GOOGLE FORMS a third party service and we also use a third party service provider platform to tutor your child in our Live Online Tutoring Program. Unless you ask us not to, we may contact you via email, text message or sometimes with a phone call in the future. The aim is to relate information on your registered child/children’s progress in our different programs, contact you if your child/children are absent and update you on important dates, events and open registration for upcoming programs.

3. CHILDREN

Brooklyn Learning Lab is committed to protecting the privacy of children who use our website. Our policy is in accordance with the United States Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We do not collect information from children under 13 on our website. Children cannot participate in Brooklyn Learning Lab’s online programs or online contests without a parent/guardian completing our registration forms and giving consent.

For our Live Online Tutoring, we ask children to produce or submit work like written content which we use in our media blogs and posts. We will require parent/guardian to consent to have their child/children under 13 years content to be used by us.

For our contest, we may require a child to submit their own created content like a video as proof of submission to qualify for prizes. In these instances, we require parent/guardian to consent and register their child to participate for all children under 13.

YOUR ACCESS TO AND CONTROL OVER INFORMATION

You may opt-out or discontinue any future contact with Brooklyn Learning Lab at any time between you and your child/children. You can do the following at any time by contacting us via our email address given on our website below this form:

  • See what data we have about you and your child/children, if any.
  • Change/correct any data we have about you and your child/children.
  • Have us delete any data we have about you and your child/children.
  • Express any concern you have about our use of your data and your child/children data.

SECURITY

Brooklyn Learning Lab takes precautions to protect the information in our care. We use reasonable commercial security programs and employee protocols to protect against loss, misuse or theft of your information under our care. However, we can make no assurance that the information you submit will be secure and that unauthorized parties will not be successful in hacking our security measures and accessing your information. If we learn of a breach of our system we will notify you via the email you have provided us. Additionally, only employees who need access to your information to perform a specific job (for example, tutoring) are granted access to personally identifiable information of parent/guardian and their child/children.
